The Cotton Hall

A historic village hall in Girton, Cambridge

The Cotton Hall is a village amenity based in Girton that is available for hire for a variety of uses. You can find out what's going on by looking at the calendar or see when we are expecting a food truck to be serving.

We are situated in Cambridge Road, Girton adjacent to St. Andrews Church. Built in 1847, it was the village school until 1956 and fully refurbished  in 2007.

The renovation was an ambitious programme thanks to many people’s efforts and generous grants from the Girton Town Charity, the Parish Council and other funding bodies. Extensive work was done and the modernised New Hall was unveiled. With its new logo, layout, modern insulation, a rear extension, kitchen, new windows, underfloor heating and extra garden space the village gained a great facility to use into the 21st century.

All sorts of other clubs and groups have used the hall over its long history including the Sunday School, Youth Club, Finnish School, Tai Chi class, Art Show, Cubs & Scouts, Brownies & Guides who have regularly met in the Hall since their foundation and many residents have fond memories of their time there, set against the backdrop of the green railings right across the front of the building and the shared driveway, metal windows and the painted brick interior.

The Hall can be booked for meetings, clubs, classes, parties, rehearsals, wedding receptions and more. It can be booked for one-off or regular events. The hall is currently regularly used for a popular café, weekly bridge club, tai-chi as well as yoga and a parent & toddler group!
